What Is the Difference between the Mack E6 and E7 Engine?

on

The Mack E6 AND E7 are two engines that look very similar. There are a lot of similarities between the two , yet there are also some differences.

1. Size: One of the notable differences is the size. The E7 is bigger than the E6. The E6 is 672 cubic inches, while the E7 is 728 cubic inches.

The size of the engine also plays a significant role in determining the torque and the application in which it could work.

2. Technology Advancement: There is no doubt that the E7 is an upgraded version of the E6, especially the E7 E-Tech. The E7 E-Tech is an electronic version with higher horsepower.

Technological advancements are more evident in E7 due to the introduction of electronic components that boost the horsepower of the engine.

3. Horsepower: The E7 possesses more hp than the E6. Even the conventional E7, which is not the E7 E-Tech has more horsepower than the E6.

For example, the  E7 has a horsepower rating of 250 – 400 while the E6 is rated between the range of 200-350 horsepower.

But the E7 E-Tech has far more horsepower. It is rated between 360-500 hp.

4. Displacement: The E7 has a higher displacement of 12.0 liter compared to the E6, which has a displacement of 11.0 liter.

The displacement has to do with the total volume of the cylinder minus the combustion chamber.  The measurements involve the amount of air and fuel the pistons can move. Engine displacement also determine the engine’s power and size.

5. Number of valves: You can still find some Mack E6s with 2 valves even though the majority have 4.

But in E7 engines, all the engines have 4 valves.

These are common differences between the E7 and E6.
